Remembering Irv Gordon

I have some sad news to pass along for those who didn’t know. I am only now learning that, Irv Gordon, the man who inspired me to make this blog and high-mile tracking site has passed away. It happened back in November 2018, and I was too wrapped up in work at the time to search for him. I am really shocked and saddened to hear this news.

I read article after article about his adventures, and was stunned when he finally went over the 3 million mile mark. It was his time with his Volvo that inspired me to start searching for others who had a passion for their vehicles. Still, as much as I searched, I found that Irv was irreplaceable. I don’t think anyone has put the time and love that he has into his beloved Volvo P1800 Coup.

I am immediately setting his car to ‘retired’. I want to express my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Irv, I hope you are out there somewhere driving to your heart’s content. Rest in Peace.

  1. Very tragic indeed. However, I did see a heartwarming post a few days after his passing where his daughter was standing next to the Volvo and said something like, “I put a few miles on today – hope you don’t mind.” RIP Irv.
