A Happy New Year to all you out there in high-mile land. My goal is to start the year off right and get blogging about people and their amazing cars. I want to get started with a story about David Bennett, Jr. and his 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. David lives in Jamesport Missouri, and is a traveling dentist. He travels to various prisons in Missouri and Iowa.
First of all, I want to apologize to David for our miscommunications. I believe he sent me an email way back in 2017. I sent him a reply and I’m pretty sure that went into the void. Then he sent me another, and the process repeated itself all of 2018, with emails getting lost in the great abyss. At some point I was able to get a reply through to him, and now I’m bringing you the story of his reliable Mercury. During that time Quaker State did a little feature on his Marquis.
Here is a little background:
He got his car when it had 80,000 miles on it. It has had no major engine work to speak of, just regular maintenance. He changes the oil every 5000 miles with the aforementioned Quaker State. David also gets the car an up-close-and-personal check up every 25,000 miles. The tires get rotated every 10,000 miles and they last around 80,000 miles. He is currently on his third set of shocks and clocks in around 1200 miles a week of driving.
At the moment, his Marquis is sitting at 547448 miles. Pretty amazing. I’m adding David to the Hall-of-Fame. Keep on driving!
